My back has spoken. And I need to listen to it.
« on: August 29, 2008, 12:05:09 PM »
Apparently my back wasn't so happy with the hunched over position of the CB400F cafe so it appears my CB400F has found a new barn in San Francisco to occupy  :'( . As much as I loved that little 400, being 6'2" tall and 220lbs, I just needed something bigger. So the 400F will be loaded into a truck bound for San Francisco tonight and tomorrow I'll find myself in the Triumph dealership signing the papers to become a new proud father of a Bonneville T100  :o. But for right now, I'm dreaming of all the miles that lay ahead of me.  8) ;D

Lets see, trading in Japanese classic for British wannabe Harley...na just doesn't do it for me when there are soooo many unloved CB750's out there just wanting to be restored.
I guess a CB750 is too small too?
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

My neighbour has just acquired a T100, to be fair they to good a bike to be classed as a 'Harley wannabe' ;)
Education: Elitist activity. Cost ineffective. Unpopular with Grey Suits. Now largely replaced by Training."

One bike will never be enough.  Each type does something well.  I have owned hundreds and currently have 17.  6 foot, 190 pounds, hardtail bobber for short hops and 1981 CB750SS for trips.  I do love the Honda reliability and smooth power.  Harley makes cool bikes but you need to spend 15K to go over 50 mph smoothly.

Tom8Toe, let me know how you got on with the Trumpet T100. I tried a demo bike a few months back 'cos I like the retro styling, but it had a standard exhaust and sounded like a knitting machine. IMHO it was a boring bike with not much umph and I got so bored that I almost fell asleep! The dealer said I could put some after market exhaust systems on it to make it more exciting. Cost? £700 ($1350)!!!!! No Thanks.

Yes - gave up too early I think. I'm 6'3", 210 lbs and I've got two crushed discs in my lumber spine area. No way am I giving up on biking so I just bought me an 888 Ducati to remind me every now and then what cramped riding is really like!

Makes the CB750 feel like a big saggy old armchair....  ;D
