Something special about my bike?
« on: August 29, 2008, 09:45:48 PM »
Is there something special about a 1977 CB550 Four SS? I've had 2 people this week & 1 last week if it would be for sale. All offers were between $1200 & $1600.  I don't get it.  So is it just a coincidence or is there something I don't know?

A picture of said bike would be helpful!
I'll tell you if it's beautiful or not. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Small Hondas like that are really desireable in Australia and Norway.  They are light and fast, good on gas, classic looks, what is not to like?

You're damn right it's special!  I've got the same bike.  Right now it's bent, dented, and scratched from a close encounter with a Kia, but I have vowed to rebuild!

Yeah, my sidecovers are wrecked now too.  (see avatar)  I was thinking of trying to make my own out of metal or fiberglass or something.  I know there's a thread about that.

Repair that side cover.  Jig it back to shape with tape on the outside.  Clean, roughen, and fiberglass the inside to fix the holes and cracks. Replace plastic tabs with used ones and drill inside for reinforcing pins and epoxy them.  Bondo fill the exterior, sand and spot putty with a decal set and basecoat clear coat paint. You are looking sharp and saving $$$. I have done about 45 sets over the years.

It 'disappeared' in 1978 when bike was out of warranty
