cb350 tanks?
« on: August 25, 2008, 05:26:16 AM »
I was just about to start the fill in the little ding on my stock tank when I figured I ask to see if there was anything else out there that fits...

Has anyone had much luck swapping a different gas tank on their CB from something else? I really didn't want to modify too much if I don't have to.

I know there is that guy from Thailand that sells the polished Norton tanks that he has already tweeked to fit our bikes, but I don't want to spend $500.00 either.

What about older Dream tanks? anyone?

Cheers!

He just pops up on Ebay from time to time. I think I just did a search under "cafe tanks" and I found him.

For what its worth- doesnt take much to fit a CB500T tank onto a CB500 four. Hardest part was moving the petcock...

DiGiacomoracing and I have mounted a fiberglass CR750 tank to a CB550, a CX500 tank to a CB750, and a fiberglass Royal Enfield tank to a CB450. Where there's a will there's a way, you just have to decide how badly you want to make it fit.

Btw, you might get more responses if you post this in the "other bikes" section.

Thanks! Thats wonderful work. I was thinking a bit simpler. maybe an old tutone Honda Dream or Scrambler tank or something along those lines retro-fitted on to my 350 cafe project.

I have this thing (maybe I need treatment) to try to keep all the parts from the same manufacturer. I mean, after market is that, but if I'm using recycled parts, I try to keep to the original maker.

Has anyone put a Dream tank on a CB? I just wish there was a mystery scrap yard of vintage bikes where I could walk around with a digital camera and a tape measure for inspiration!
