Introductions and a question
« on: September 18, 2008, 10:30:50 AM »
Hey guys,

Just bought myself a CB750K8 that I'll be restoring this winter. I have a question regarding a gap in the engine case. It looks like it may have been shaved down. I couldn't tell you why, but take a look and let me know what you think.

Here's the beast.

My other bike is a '79 CM400T.

Welcome from Wellington, Ontario.

Maybe that inner case is from an earlier/later model? The outer one looks like it is in line with the crankcase, so it is the inner one that looks suspect to me.

Welcome to the board Jamil!!!  That space is not right and it also looks shaved to me too.  I wonder if the previous owner did that for heat or something?  I like your CM400...I have 2 of them.  They are a blast for my son and I in the city or the back country.

Hey. I'm in Ottawa here. :)

They do look a different colour, but maybe that's just my eyes playing tricks on me. I'm not sure if water getting in there is going to be bad for the bike. I'm mostly not liking the way it looks and a new cover may be in my future, assuming that it was shaved.
