I just finished importing mine to the UK from NZ, I had it for over 12 months in NZ, as long as you have the import certificate and rego papers from the US stating how long you've had it you should be ok - heres what I did:

1) Phoned insurance company - carolyn nash -  gave chassis number as rego to get insurance cover note to get to MOT station

2) rode to MOT station - passed MOT

3) Handed in MOT certificate, insurance cover note, import paper, NZ rego certificate

4) Got tax disc and rego number in post 48 hours later - got new number plate.

5) rode off into the sunset  ;D

So did you get a V5c with the registration to prove it's registered in the UK or is it just "legal" in the UK to ride it? I dunno - really, it just looks too easy!  ;D

Its all legal - got me V5c tax disc and everything - the one thing the importer said to me was don't loose the customs docket as they are difficult to get again.  My bike has a little plate from Honda riveted onto the frame showing year and model do you have the same on the second frame?  Or is it stamped onto the headstock itself?  I would have been tempted to send of the documents anyway and see if they picked up on it - its not like its a 30 grand luxury car or a cut and shut job.

Jonbuoy, thats the way its supposed to work but the big problem for Blaize is that the number on the all imortant customs docket doesn't tie up with the frame or MOT cert so we have to do a "WORK ARROUND"  whilst staying legal(ish). Then again as my boss sez "There is more than one way of killing a pig asside from lovin it to death" I Have given Blaize a couple of ideas and whilst he may miss this years "summer" Ho De Ho Ho! we will beat the officials in the end
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
