+1 on the holes not being able to reduce the stopping power.

I have at least 2X the holes in my disks and they still amaze me at times for the stopping power compared to what the stocker single disk did.

I got one of mine done, this one is for the right side that will go on the shelf until I get the rest of the parts to do the dual setup. I also would reccomend making sure you spend the money on good drill bits to do this job with. I had TI coated but they only worked for about 4 holes, bought a cobalt bit, went slow with slow speed, plenty of oil and volia! I am going to do the left side rotor starting this week, I also with the help of the moderators have a pdf file of what I showed in the last page in the FAQ's (brakes). Use them if you can and I clame no responsibility for your actions :P :-*

I like those rtors better. They have a lot more braking surface to work with.

Balancing won't be possible or would be very difficult.

I remember reading one time a scientific disertation on why drilling holes, many holes, has little if any effect on braking. It has to do with some mysterious physics of braking. Its not as obvious as one might think. I've never run across such a discussion since. Wish someone would.

Even though form should always follow function, I can't wait to see how my new "bacon slicer" rotors will look installed.

Hey, is there some one that can upload a pdf for me, I made three drill pattern versions of the 750 rotor, because I was a goon and forgot that this one is for a 550, guess that's what I get for only getting to look here on break at work and moving too fast, well I started from scratch and made up three patterns and wanted to share. Here is a jpeg of it if I can get someones email who can upload it I would glagly send it to ya. thanks for any help maybe it can go in the faq.

I'd like to use the lower right one for my 750F project, where is the file posted to download?

We have a pattern for the 750 in the tech library on the main site. I'd like to add patterns for other models if anyone has them and can email them to me (or Glenn)

Cheers

speaking of that I do have four versions of what I sent you on the annubis cycle out of business thread, they are separated onto four different pdf's for easier printing and I can send them to you. I do also have a spiral pattern that is the most favored sized for the 550 and I am waiting for sizes for the 400 rotor and I can make a pattern for them too. ;) If that's ok Steve cb500f I will get them all sent to you and you can delete the original one I sent to you and replace them with the new separate versions for all to share.

CB350F drilling disc using old BMW disc for guide
« Reply #39 on: December 27, 2010, 01:54:07 AM »
Our lad just drilled his CB350F disc, using an old BMW Airhead disc as a drill guide.
Clamped the BMW disc on top of the Honda disc with two G-clamps, then drilled two holes opposite each other, did away with the clamps and used two 6mm bolts to hold the two discs firmly together while drilling the other 120 or so holes.

Came up looking a treat, as you can see. Used a countersinking bit to do the chamfers.

The BMW disc is exactly the same diameter as the CB350F's so holes were perfectly located regarding both inner and outer edges of the disc.
BMW disc was the same on R75 through to R100 models, 1970s and most of the 80s and were factory drilled.

I have a 550 disc i started to drill ( 25% done, 75% half way drilled.
I have had nothing but trouble and am looking for someone to finish it or buy another drill disc
Yes I have a drill press & yes I used lub. I've destroyed 2 carbide drills.
If anyone can help me let me know.
The holes are 3/8"
