Well, I'm an electrical engineer, so I've got no excuse not to make my bike a testbed for wacky inventions. I want to put in a multifunction display, just a cheapo LCD screen that gives me numbers. I figure, in an ancient machine like this, it makes a lot of sense to be able to spot problems quickly. So I want to be able to see oil temp, pressure, battery voltage, and current. And probably some other things. I can do this all on one screen, you know, push a button to see a stat. And I can make it a bit smart, so if a stat passes a threshold, for instance if your oil pressure drops, it can flip to that stat and beep or something. I figure I can mount it under the speedometer on the speedo bracket. There's a couple of inches in there, more than enough, and reasonably unobtrusive.
So two things: first, does anyone know a decent oil pressure transducer and oil temp sender unit that would screw into the oil pump threads on the SOHC bikes? And second, if there's interest in this and I can get it all working, would anyone out there be interested in this? If there's enough interest I suppose I could kit some up.
