my 81 gl 1100

bought this a few months ago.....been riding everywhere on her (that's why i haven't been on here  ;D)
anyway....i love this bike,,,wish i had bought 1 earlier.she has over 100,000 km on her.shifting into 4th is a little clicky sometimes  :(...but that seems to be the only problem.
I'm going to add 20w 50 and see if that makes a bit of a diff.
i added bags and windshield.

Just took my first ride today on my (new) 81 I after having to replace the engine.The original engine had dropped a valve and knocked a hole in the piston.

Alot  of gold wing riders will preload the shifter to stop what you are decribing, by putting alittle pressure on the shifter just prior to the shift helps on those big beasts.

that looks sharp.
I'm going to strip the bike down over the winter,clean it up and paint.the PO gave me a Vetter fairing and leather bags with the bike,fortunately they were not installed.so that makes it easier to deal with.the fairing is black and in pretty good shape (might put it on after the paint).
I'm amazed at how well balanced this bike is for an 1100  (love the flat four)

How much does it cost to paint a goldwing black? It looks great and I have an 82 that could use a new paint job.

I was just looking for a ballpark figure because a local shop quoted $1000 for House of Kolor black gold on my Aspencade and I thought that was a little spendy. They are sweet bikes for sure and very well balanced. I really enjoy riding mine after rebuilding the carbs. Here's what she looks like now.
