Aftermarket footpegs

I am looking to replace the footpegs on my cb550.  I am just not liking the look of the rubber footpegs. Does anyone know of any aftermarket footpegs that will bolt on with out have to change my rear sets out.

I don't know of any direct bolt ons but visit this page and look at the male mounting ends. Thats what you should need.

The only problem I see is if it's only a one sided peg it will probably be crooked because how the oem mounts are. If you look close on your bike you can see what I'm talking about.

Let me know if you find anything, because I don't like my pegs much either.

With very little work you can make a set of pegs from an 600F3 plus the stock peg spring fit on the stock bracket. Much lighter and still offers a bit of vibration insulation with the rubber tops.

Oh yeah, bwaller's CB550 is a beauty, and it has a lot of functional improvements too!  I've voted for it for BOTM before.  I don't recall if it won, but it sure deserves to.

Just go for it-I'm going to do the same thing on 750 and can't find any info. We'll see who figures out the best way to skin this cat.
When everybody starts doing it, we can say we were the first, I guess ;D

Brady,  you may not be able to pull the pin on your pegs and install it with those without a little tweaking, but yea they should work.

To answer your other requests,
1) registered as a 1973 500
2) bought a used header, cut it off at the collector, made the pipe from an old SS pool ladder, and used a GSXR can.

Do you have a build log for that bike?

How did you mount the pegs farther back? Just spin the peg bracket backwards?

My bike was a basket case, if it looked as good as yours my wife would be riding a stocker! ;D

No build Log, was originally planning on it but was nominated for BOTM last October (which was cool) and splayed out some of the mods, so thought better of dragging it up again.

The peg brackets are thinned down 400F items which bolt right up and place the pegs directly under the swingarm pivot. Very comfortable postion. Some thought needs to go into a brake pedal and shift linkage.

Here's a pic trying to get all the left side parts in order.

Go for it Void. It's not real clear but I welded a 1/8" shim to the bracket where the aluminum peg rests to keep it level. Then the original spring needs to be modified slightly to work properly.

I used the passenger pegs off of my FZR to replace the stock 400F pegs.  I don't have a welder (or welding ability) so I hacked up some aluminum angle iron to serve as a spacer.  The stock pegs weigh over 1 lb each and these new ones are just a couple of ounces. 




I made two of these - took some trial and error with a file to get the pegs exactly level.

Those are EXACTLY what I'm thinking of-so much leaner and cleaner looking!
