Center stand hitting chain after 4-1 exhaust install
« on: September 03, 2008, 06:08:07 PM »
I Put a Mac 4-1 exhaust on my K8, but the chain hits the center stand. It came with a bracket that I think is suppose to hold the stand down, but not sure where it bolts to. Its way to short to bolt to the rear pegs.  ???

that bracket usually bolts to the left side passenger peg location.  It should be about 3-4" long and about an inch wide.

It'll hold the center stand out of the chain.  The center stand used to rest against a rubber bumper on the left muffler.  Bolt the bracket up and then raise the center stand and make sure that it hits on the fat part of the stand.

That's where it's supposed to go.  The Mac for my 350F didn't have one(missing) so I made one.  The Mac for my 55oK had one and it mounted on the rear peg.

And keep an eye on it.  Over time, it has a tendency to shift and allow the center stand to hit the chain.

Yea no go on the left passenger peg. Its about 2-3 inches too short... Guess its time to ditch the stand or build a new bracket...

Thanks.

I fabricated my own bracket for my 75 750K.I mounted mine to the right side footpeg/stock exhaust hole. You have to kinda just look at the situation and do some measuring.Get yourself some metal and a welder comes in handy also. If you wanna ride, you will make it happen!!! Good luck to ya.

On my 650 I ran a long bolt through the foot of the center stand on the right side. It hits the muffler and stays off the chain.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

For my Mac I had to make sure it hit on the "feet" of the center stand, or it was also too short. I mounted mine on the right behind the muffler to hide it.

Take the center stand off...that is what I did and mine worked with my four into one.

A thick washer on one of the center stand bolts will act as a stop and is very clean.

If it's about 2" long with a bolt hole in one end it should fit on the center stand "pinch" mounting bolt. When the center stand swings up it hits this piece and stops. At least that's what Kerker's solution is, not sure about Mac systems.

Hmmmmmm........ wide washer sounds better since the flat bar piece that Kerker provided keeps slipping it's position. Thanks ;D
