For those who need more tire on the ground:
http://sb-max.com/web/cb750_arm/cb750_arm.html

and just a super trick piece.

Also, check out the drop down products menu for 4-4 pipes and custom tank.

Amazing the time and effort that is being put in on our old bikes by people that weren't even born then!

These things are amazingly expensive, but somebody out there is buying them, wants them, etc.  Kinda like NFL tickets, real expensive but they still sell them.

Geez, I didn't even realize they could be manipulated and enlarged. Thanks. I think I have some new deaktop photos.

Somebody here had posted this link http://www5.ocn.ne.jp/~sbmr0201/ (scroll it down) and I emailed them and asked about the swingarm. Got a very Asian response.

Well for 1500 bucks plus shipping, I think I'll pass. (I can buy a good TIG welder and plenty of aluminium to practise on for that kinda money..............)  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Oh I'm with you conceptually, except that doing it myself is not even a consideration, as I have no skills.

The best "deal" on a swingarm may actually be from these guys. http://www.swingarm.com/ Go to the "shop" section and you can build your own swingarm with length, width, axle adjusters, and braces, and finishes. Yes our bikes are listed in the drop down menus!  I'm considering (yeah right) one with a bottom brace and slightly longer for a 150/70-17 tire for my 75 CB750F. Should go for around $700 if my conversion is right.

I'm in the process of putting a late 80's ZX600 Kawasaki swingarm on my CB750 race bike.  It's a boxed section aluminum unit that was originally designed for a mono-shock set up.  However, it takes the same size pivot bolt up front and it actually slightly narrower than the stock CB750 unit.  So all you have to do is to have some spacers made up to center it in the frame.  You need to cut off the mono-shock mounts and have some alloy lugs welded to the arm to hold the twin shocks, but all in all it's a relatively easy conversion.  The Kawi arm is about 2" longer than the stock 750 arm though, so you'll need a longer chain.  Not sure what the stock axle diameter is on the Kawasaki swing arm, but the one that I have has already been modified to accept the larger rear axle from a '85 GSXR750 18" cast wheel.

Pics coming at some point.

Yes show us what you do. I've seen other bike's aluminum SA grafted on CB750s and for the sake of the collective data bank, I'd like to know which ones fit up and what's involved in each conversion, spacers, mods, brake rods, etc.

And benefits, perceived or actual, like lighter, stronger, fit wider tire, etc.

The store bought ones sure are trick, though.  ;)

The one that I am talking about looks like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawasaki-ZX600-Ninja-600R-1985-600-Swingarm-Swing-Arm_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ35581QQihZ010QQitemZ200188821272

It was designed to fit a 16" rear wheel, and works great with 17" ones.  They will hold a 160 rear tire on a CBR600F2 rear wheel (common upgrade for racing EX500 Kawasakis).  However, the 18" GSXR750 wheel (18x3.5) will fit and will hold a 140-150 rear tire without issues.

And of course you can strip the paint and polish it all up nicely also.

Wow that's neat, price is right! Any idea about weight? Length? Lighter than a stock CB750? That would be the bonus as it certainly looks beefier and getting the 150/70-17 on is the real goal.

They are lighter than the stock 750 steel arm.  Don't have a side by side weight comparison though.  and they are about two inches longer.

that arm on Ebay is missing the dust caps that fit on the front ends of the swingarm and it's also missing the axle adjusters.  Just an FYI and those little things often add an expected bump to the price of a project.

Also, that arm is set up to work with a rear disc brake.  I had to cut the brake stay lug off mine and move it to the inderneath side to mate up with my GSXR stuff.

Again, I can't remember if the stock ZX6 axle is the same diameter as the Honda CB axle.  If it's not, then you'll also have to have the axle areas milled wider.

I bought the one on eBay. I just now saw your post with the additional comments, helpful, but not deal breakers. My project is a 76CB750F and I want to ditch the massive rear disc in favor of something smaller and more suitable, so I knew some work would be involved. For $40, even if it takes another $200+, I would still have what i want. And it would be more "mine" than a store bought one. Thanks again.

those Japs on the super build crank out some great CB's, especially with their Titanium 4-4 exhaust. 1500 dollars is a lot of dough to save 2.6 pounds. looks purdy tho.

I'll measure the front spacers that I had made when I get the arm back from the welder.  My arm had the dust caps though, so you'll need to get those or make your spacers wider.

The Suzuki arm is another inch or so longer than the Kawi unit.  I had considered it as I had one on the shelf, but decided to keep the shortest possible wheelbase on my race bike.  The Suzuki arm will easily handle a 180 rear tire though.

what's all needed to be accounted with swapping swingarms/rear ends? if the arm is symmetrical, spacing the pivot should'nt be hard if the new arm is narrower in the CB's mounts. I guess the sprocket will need worked in aligning with the output sprocket on the engine. weld mounts for the shocks (eye or clevis). anything else?

No problem, my machinist is unfazed by such problems. I'll look up the dust caps at BikeBandit.com or equivalent supplier. I won't be working on this project soon, but I want to explore the wheel, swingarm, brake issue in my down time.

Cool. GSX what?  Does the pivot area need spacers, bushings, etc.? Do the shock mounts line up?

The Suzuki arm pictured came on US GS1100's from '80 or '81 thru about '83.

It's a direct upgrade for older GS1000 Suzukis and works well on KZ900/1000 and even CB900F/1100F models.

I haven't measured the front of one to compare it to the CB arm though.

When you swap swing arms, you will generally want to center it in the frame and then you need to line up the sprocket on whatever new wheel you're looking for and then spacers to center the wheel.

To line up the sprocket, you want to compare the distance from the middle of the rear wheel to the back side of the sprocket on both the CB wheel and the replacement wheel.  You may have to mill the sprocket carrier back a bit to move the sprocket in closer to the wheel.  If you're really lucky, the sprocket can be spaced out further to fit, but I usually don't get that lucky.

Use the caliper carrier and caliper and disk that goes with the donor wheel.

First GSX1100 16 valve, think 1981. The bushings from the swing can be turned down by about 6.0 mm each, et voila! Shock mountings line up though not 100%, they are only about 1 1/2" further backwards so the rear will come down a bid. I plan to use Koni shocks from a CB900 which are longer than the 750's so that will bring the rear back up again.

3 753.393 U.S. dollars. I thought it was only 800 bucks, I would have got that for 800 dollars. Then I noticed that there was a 3 before the 7  :'(
