soleniod-battery
« on: September 06, 2008, 11:35:25 AM »

what could be the issue here?
I guessed the soleniod was going out, but I could kick start the bike or short across the solenoid to start.
Now, however, it won't start  by shorting across, the test light shows power at the battery, however when I turn on the key,  the test light connected to the battery goes out ?  shouldn't the light still show power?
I turn off the key (automotive switch) and in 5-10 seconds the test light glows again.
I took the battery to where I purchased it and they tested it with a load and sez it is okay. It shows 12 volts  + on my meter.
any clues?

A fully charged 12 volt battery should read around 12.7 volts.  What does your battery read?  Keep in mind that at 12.3 volts it is something like 50% discharged.

yep..12.7  volts to 13 +.

but I don't understand why the test light shows no juice for a few seconds after hitting the starter.
