Propane conversion...

Maybe replace the gas tank with a pair of 1 or 1.5 gallon propane tanks, replace the carbs with a pair of propane carbs on  cyclex manifolds, just thinking..

I wonder how far 2 gallons of propane would go.  A barbeque tank would be great as I could get one ant most any gas station and many hardware stores, but it would be hard to package on a bike.  (Like saddlebags, one on each side? ;D )

Maybe not such a great idea.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

I had an idea like that but with CNG. Compressed natural gas is a real option if you don't mind 3600psi between the jewels. :o

Sounds like, all you'd need is a match and an oxygen mask, and you could be the first SOHC4 in space.  ;D
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

On a stock motor, probably. Propane has a little less energy in it, but the octane rating is higher. So, you could build a propane specific motor with high compression to take advantage of the octane, and make more power on propane than on gas.

If I was to do this, I'd make a stock motor run on 'pane just to make sure it could be done, then build a high compression 836 to put it on.

Probably hard to find, but 10 Lb bottles would be easier to mount on the bike.  The same height as a 20 Lb'er, but half the diameter.  I had one, but it expired.  And a conversion to a single carb would make this idea more workable.  This was posted in another thread, and is an idea worth some thought.

:Borat: Very nice! :/Borat:

I contemplated a single carb with a manifold made from copper fittings.  I'm just not sure that the right angles would work well, but it'd be cheap enough to try.

Do you remember what thread that pic is from? I like to read it and see how well it ran.
