Computers, I curse thee
« on: September 06, 2008, 05:21:40 PM »
OK, I've been to the FAQ page and read the tip regarding this but I still don't get it.

When attaching a link to a site how in God's name do I make it a hyperlink? The explanation in FAQ made sense right up until I tried to do it. Where does one put the smiley faces w/ shades and with the funky brackets. For the link I tried this with there was so much code(?... all those friggin' numbers and letters and stuff) I didn't know where to put what.

This isn't a super important thing but for some reason it's buggin' me that I can't do it.

You can do it one of two ways. Either click on the icon above the input/post/reply box that looks like this and insert the link text between the delimiters, or paste the link text in, then highlight it with your mouse and then click on the image shown above.

P.S. When I first saw your post, I thought you might be talking about the Win XP SP3 update.. now that I could curse. >:( >:(

Yes, I've installed it, four times  >:( without success. Even after making sure nothing else is running, all security software disabled, etc. It gets to the point where is says its "running processes after install" it just hangs and never completes, even after 3+ hours. Real shame and of course the rollbacks are pretty time consuming as well. Until now I never had a complaint about XP, it never crashed on me and I religiously kept up with the updates, very stable. In doing some research, apparently SP3 has been problematic for quite a significant % of those who have tried to install it. At this point, I would guess there is little in it that I would benefit from having done all previous updates, but there will be future updates that will be dependent on finding SP3 installed, already encountered one.

Mac users need not reply. :)

actually, our update didn't take the 1st or 2nd time...

we did it last weekend but we also removed 200gigs from the computers harddrive as well... that may have had something to do w/ its wanting to accept the update or not.   8)

One of the requirements is almost 800MB of free hard disc space.  That's what's stopping me.  I can't make that much room.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Sadly, free space it not my problem. I wish it were that easy. My "C" drive had 91 Gig of free space and an aux. drive with over 300 Gig free. >:( "Curse you Bill Gates!" There, I said it. ::)
