MOST EXCELLENT Gearhead Kinda Day !!
« on: September 06, 2008, 07:49:42 PM »
Went to Bub Speed trials Friday morning...

then off to ,
Miller Motorsports Vintage motorcycle Race (practice day), an AHMRA event, got to roam the pits full of exotica, and see (and HEAR) a few practice laps. including streamined sidecars.. That was a few hours in the afternoon..

 Then,
we found Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City!!.. watched some bracket races, run what you brung TO,s.. including streetbikes.. and a 10 second crewcab of all things :o.. it was the Nightdrags.

Then around 12;30 AM.. we headed home.. about 1100 miles.. in 17 hrs :o

It just dont get any better.. ;D

I think I will sleep well with pleasant dreams

The crewcab had a gas motor. They had run diesels in bracket, they were running when we got there.I think some were in the 11's, lots were in the 12's. (quite quick)

Behind (and parallel to) the stands of the 1/4 mile was an oval track, and they were drifting on that one. We did not make it to the stands, as we could not find secure parking (all our stuff was in an uncovered truck. Security kindly allowed us to park at the front edge of the track where we could see some of the strip. So we did not see the drifters but could sure hear them.

I must say this is an excellent facility, quite near town, they also had a motocross track under lights that ran till about midnight.

Miller Motorsports (30 miles away) is an amazing facility, on their site they claim to be best in the us. Check out their site for the Vintage event and the  :o pic  :o of the sidecar racers (worth seeing imo)
