New Project 77 KZ 1000, Forks and Rims?
« on: April 10, 2008, 06:40:02 AM »
Thought I would call on some of your guys knowledge, picked up yet another project this weekend, 77 KZ 1000 here locally as the price was too good to pass up.  The bike has a late model front end, brakes, tires and rims.  Not to mention I am not sure what type of swing arm is on the bike.  Here are some pics (still have not picked up the engine and other goodies):

The lady said they were from a Katana?  From my research it looks like the forks and rims are from a newer Ninja 6RR or 10R?  What do you think.  The engine supposedly has a big bore kit, figured worst comes to worst I can sell the front end and rims and get the cash I have in it back.  Did I mention I have the original front end, tires and swingarm too and a clean title!  Let me know what you think....

Dusterdude, you and my wife are on the same wave link.  She has not said anything, but I can tell she is not exactly happy with my third project bike.

Kottkehead, I do not think they are Ohlins as they usually have their brand name marked all over everything.  While I have not examined them too closely, I was unable to see any markings of significance.

Anyone out there have a newer 636RR or a 10R?  Rim pattern the same?

It looks like they are from a newer Kawasaki. I just looked at getting a set like that today. The forks are made by KYB.

They look like 636 rims..just took a look at my buddies bike. His is a Limited edition so the rims are powder coated red but they look similar.
