Sohc4 "Chop" Thread... Lets see those pics!!
« on: September 08, 2008, 01:14:55 PM »
I searched around for around 5 minutes and couldn't find any picture threads dedicated to sohc4 "chops"

Looking for some ideas on what to do to my '77 cb550.  So post away!  Anything that you would consider to be custom, and a chop is game.

the old 550 hardtail frames (amen, paughco, etc...) are out there, saw one very recently at a swap meet and was considering picking it up just to have it, it had a $300 asking price.

this one was built in 1974 out of a new bike. It is an Amen frame.  It is a death trap, but a good looking one.

Ah well I plan to build the frame myself.  But I am just looking for some ideas in the mean-time...

He he, have fun doing your float levels...............  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The seat on the blue bike is awesome.

Hey Geeto67, There is no reason to endanger your health with a bike like that... I will take it off your hands for you so you can keep your health in check. ;D

That's a good looking bike.

The stuff you've done makes me really self conscious of my bike. You've made some really sweet bobbers.

Apoji, that is one of the coolest sohc builds I've seen. Clean and sexy with no BS or overstatement. Did you weld on the hardtail?

Thanks Brantley. I wasnt comfortable with my welding skills to do it myself. Especially after hearing horror stories of bikes falling apart under people. I found a local shop that specializes in vintage hot rod chassis, and apparently they had experience hardtailing hondas. The rear is a modified harley hardtail. Apparently the HD tails line up and fit well with some chopping. The tank is a "captain america" replica.

The welds are nice, roll of nickels nice. I'll fill over them this winter when I paint the frame, for now its spray bombed so I can ride it the rest of the season.

Here's a couple of the one I just got back together.
There are old bikers and there are bold bikers but there are very few old, bold bikers.

Not doing what you can to make your bike ride-able during the best riding months of the year kind of defeats the purpose of owning it in the first place.
