You can step back and see what you've done.

Not whilst painting a house I hope.

While going to school I work part time for this company

What are you going to school for?

I'm working towards being a high school/middle school math teacher. But I keep wishing I could get a degree for working on old bikes.

Ha, ha.  Nope, I've never fallen off (knocks on wood), though I have had my foot slip off of a rung 30+ feet up.  I fell down a couple of feet before catching myself.  After an appropriate amount of cursing and taking a 10 min. break so my heart didn't explode, I went back up and finished whatever it was that I was doing.

This is one of the several stories from work that I haven't told my wife ;) :D :D

That #$%* ain't funny.

After being a brick layer for some twenty years, I got a spark in my eye the spark had to be cut out after the spark was removed I was sent to work with a patch on my eye but no work restrictions.

Standing on top of a 8 foot ladder, yes 3 steps above the one that says this is not a step, I got disorientated and fell off the ladder sliding down the face of the wall and hitting my head on a cube of block.

it's to any thing with one eye

Corporate accounting for a non profit organization.  We do stuff for people that want stuff done and researched (government, auto firms, engineering firms, plastics, pharma....name it).
We also give a lot of stuff, including $, back to the public. :)

Currently attending barber school here in the city to eventually take over my dad's shop --->
He has been cutting hair for over 40 years, and comes from a family of barbers (so it made sense for me to become one ;D)

Hey, pro-teal, mucho respect. I love going to the barber's and having a right good yarn and #$%*. It takes real "people skill" to be able to do that all day. And I bet you're a good scissors and comb man. Too many razor cutters in this area. I once went into the village barber and the first thing he said was "What number cut, sir" whilst waving a buzzing razor around my head. Man, I just ripped off the towel and walked out of there. What's happened to the scissors and comb men??

Thanks for the kind words.
Like I said above it is in my blood. My dad is a barber, his 8 brothers were/are all barbers, my dad's dad was a barber, etc..
So this past June it just hit me to drop what I was doing and go this route. it just made sense to me to get outta the copo sales gig's I was bouncing around from, go to school, and take over the family biz. Also is pretty sweet that I live above my dad's shop, so I think I have everyone beat in the commute world  ;D

This is an old post but very interesting, thanks for digging it up again.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer too, I've worked at many companies over the past 28 years. Right now my title is a Senior Analytical Engineer (that means I'm old), I do a lot of stress, thermal, acoustical and fluid dynamics analysis. Regardless of my title I still run a milling machine, lathe and would much rather be welding than sitting at a desk.

I guess I'll jump on as one of the sites "youngins".

I am currently 4/5's of the way through Michigan Tech's Computer Network and System Administration Bachelors course. I recently switched from Software Engineering. I loved programming don't get me wrong I just couldn't stand the idea of sitting in front of a computer for 40+ years and getting Carpal Tunnel by age 25. So I switched.

I have 4 years of experience in the IT world. Started off as a Help Desk Technician and now my job title is IT Professional. Go figure...

I quit painting houses at the beginning of the year when I got a new job as an exhibit designer at a natural history museum.  There aren't as many ladders to fall off of, but I am around much scarier chemicals than before.  100 years ago, taxidermied specimens were preserved by treating the hides in giant vats of arsenic.  Which means that almost all of the nearly 100,000 things in the collection could potentially poison me.  Fun stuff :o

I am a mechanic for transit buses.

Its the perfect job for the fact that I can make/modify parts on the job and look like I'm working on the buses.  Its almost like I get paid to make my motorcycle.

On the flip side though when I get home I rarely feel like working on my bike because I just got done wrenching for 8 hours.  Thats why I've not had a chance to fix the oil leak on my CB500 and why I still have some wiring to do on my CB360T.  Well money is kind of an issue too. ;)

I'm what they call an EVT (Emercency Vehicle Technician) for the county I live in.

Basically I work on anything that has red or blue flashing lights.  It's actually pretty fun playing with fire trucks and police cars all day.  Althoutgh it doesn't pay much any more I still enjoy it.
