rear brake rod snapped...
« on: September 10, 2008, 02:04:51 PM »
Well, I won't go into a ton of detail on How It Happened, but suffice it to say I now need to replace the rear brake rod, cam and sundries on my 1978 750k (cotter pin now firmly in hand...). Here's the problem: this part is no longer available from honda and nobody else (western, dave silver, classic, powers, discount, ohio, ebay etc) seems to have one in inventory. Are there any suggestions out there for an alternative source or an alternative replacement? Am I going to be fabricating one myself? Any ideas/input would be appreciated...Mo.

Fabricated my own, but I'm sure there are other options such as a cable style setup.

Keep watching eBay unless you've got a local bike scrap yard that deals in metric bikes.  Or fabricate one yourself, not like you're trying to fab a piston or anything :)

BTW the cotter pin needs to be firmly in bolt, not firmly in hand ;)

too bad the bolt sailed about 75 feet into somebody's cornfield after pinging off the spokes at 50+...
