Just wanted to post two pictures of a trip I did from Ontario to the Cabot Trail back in 2004 or 2003?  It was on a cb550 I bought for $400 and worked on all summer in time for a trip in September.  That ammunition box you see strapped to the seat contains an array of spare parts but the bike never failed me.  I did purchase a used tire in Middle River.

Incredible scenery, friendly people -one of the best trips of my life.  I had to cut the trip short because of a hurricane heading towards Halifax.  You guys have some of the best riding in North America (when the weather holds).

I've been considering driving up to the Cabot Trail this summer myself. I have a cottage in Cape Breton so I wouldn't even need to worry about finding a place to stay. I've never had the time or chance to do it before but I'm going to have every weekend off for the rest of the summer so I might make a couple days of it.

This weekend is the Thunder in the Highlands Bike Rally in Cape Breton. Not sure of the exact location though. I had considered going up solo but had to cancel due to work. One of our fellow members GarrettCB750 is up in that area.

I have a Morgan Carbtune and a cb650 with PD carbs so experience on them too. We can get together some evening, its a pretty quick job and I've got all the gear to do it.

Hello other Nova Scotia SOHC Riders.

I have a black 1976 CB 750F1. I live near the five corners in Dartmouth. Hope to see some other SOHC owner around.

Welcome Kevin,

Always nice to hear from more SOHC riders on the East Coast. No frost on the windows this morning....looks like another bike day. The best thing about living down east is that I can ride into Nov. Makes me not miss Northern Ontario at all.

Nice bike...hope to see it around this summer. I tend to hit the rides in NS, they seem to be better attended than the NB ones.

Hello Mainlanders!

I'm in Halifax NS and I'll pay top dollar (read: cold beer) to anyone who can help me resurrect my new to me beauty:

I just bought this little gem, she was running last week and I can't get her to start. I posted the problem in the main forums.

Any brave backyard mechanics willing to teach a fella the ropes? I'll be forever in your debt!

Please help!

The carbs are getting plenty of fuel, I've drained them by backing those brass nuts off... there's no filter AFTER the carbs right?

Do you guys know any backyard bike mech's with experience with these old SOHC's in HRM?

I see you guys buying up these bikes. Just curious what you paid for these little gems. Almost all of my bike purchases have been out of province (ON PQ)and would like to know the going price in the maritimes. Thanks

Operator,

I paid 1500 for mine in running condition... it's a 76 with 22k Miles on it.

Decent shape needs a good cleaning and a tune up.

rotortiller,

There is some rust in the tank I believe, I'll have to someone more qualified than me determine if there's enough rust to cause and serious problems... I'll have to get back to you on the fuel filter.

The nut were brass in color and seemed to fit a 1/4 inch slot-head nicely. bottom of the carbs when I backed them off about 6 turns the poured a steady stream of gas until empty (fuel petcock switch off)

rotortiller were you riding today?

I could have sworn I saw your bike pass me while I was gassing up in Eastern Passage.

Good News! She's running.

Anyone what to sort out a ride in HRM please let me know.

How's everyone's spring going for them?

I've got Lucy into the bike doctor having her carbs cleaned and synced and valves adjusted but I was able to sneak a few rides in... warmer days are here!

Well this thread is extremely old, but also the most recent call out for NS SOHC owners, so I'll bump it up from the dead.

I'm located just outside of Windsor N.S. and work in HRM.

Looking forward to meeting some Nova Scotian CB Owners in the future. I just picked mine up in the Valley.

Funny that after being dead for years two people in NS checked it out in a week. I love in Halifax and will be picking up a 78 cb750k on Saturday.

New member searching through threads ............

I wouldn't have posted but I see that someone had done so back in August.

I'm from Nova Scotia, Bridgewater to be precise. I moved out to BC 31 years ago, but miss my Bluenose home.
