1978 CB550K- clutch ignition interlock?
« on: September 14, 2008, 07:54:49 AM »
The discoveries continue on my 3 previous owner cb550k:)
There are wires going from the clutch handle mount into the headlight nacelle,I'm assuming it's an ignition interlock, disengage clutch and start the bike. One of the wires is pulled out.I cannot see how the wiring is connected into the mount,is it just held by friction? There don't appear to be any screws to hold it in,and the Clymers doesn't show anything in the way of pictures apart from the wiring diagram.
Thanks

From memory...

It is a fairly cheesy arrangement.
The switch body pushes out toward the clutch lever side (clutch lever removed).  Feed the wires through the hole in the housing.  If you are lucky, when the wire was pulled out, it straightened the contact/terminal.  Feed this back into the switch and then reform it so it makes contact with the small button out.  This completes a ground path so the solenoid will engage when the clutch lever is pulled in.

Cheers,
