Question about ignition switch location on a 72 750k
« on: September 16, 2008, 11:28:49 AM »
I recently picked up a 72 750k and the ignition switch is tie wrapped to the frame just under the tank on the left side.   I have seen pictures of the switch on some bikes here but wonder if it is the right location for it on this bike.

If it goes on the frame there, I cannot see anywhere it would mount to.  It looks like at one time it might have been mounted between the speedo and tach as there is a round indention in the paint there.  I have a 73 frame that is stripped down as well and I cannot see anywhere on that frame to mount the ignition either.

Please advise on where it is supposed to be and how it mounts if you know and thanks in advance.

That's the correct location.  Sounds like you're missing the mounting bracket, which clamps to the frame.  #22:

Also, consider moving that bracket toward the seat, just above the carbs. This location will make the bike very resistant to being hotwired.  ;)
