Crack in my petcock bowl
« on: September 18, 2008, 12:33:58 PM »
Well I just rebuilt the petcock this afternoon and low and behold there is a hairline crack in the bowl part (CB350f). I bought the rebuild kit b/c I thought the seal around it was leaking (also the fuel screen was varnished). Turns out the drip was coming from that crack. Any tempory fix I can use? I'm just going to find another one as a replacement but I've put so much work into this bike I wanna ride it  :(. Plus it'll probally take me a while to find one.  Was thinking about rednecking it and throwing some JB weld over the crack, but will gas dissolve it?

JB Weld would probably work.  Just be sure to clean the area good and rough it up a bit with sandpaper so the JB has something to bite too.  I wonder if solder would hold it for you?

I have a used petcock from a 75 360T. The bowl is good. It may be the same-you`ll have to check. I can send it to you if you want.
