What I'm doing when it's warm
Tank Preservation
«

When I purchased the 750 I have, about a month now, it came with fuel in it. I need to drain the fuel from it, but would like to know how to keep the interior from rusting?
Thanks
Discovered I had posted this in the for sale section Okay, it was early when I posted. I'll just be deleting the other one

In my oppinion the best way to store it (if it is going to be less than maybe a year is fill it to the brim with gas and stabilizer. If you don't want to store it full however I would say throw in a bottle of 2-stroke oil and slosh it around. Every so often take the tank and give it a good swirling to recoat the inside.

I'm guessing you want to protect the tank while rebuilding the rest of the bike? I've never been a fan of the liners available. My theory is to de-rust and then keep fuel in it. But if you are doing what I suspect, probably not the best idea. So I would suggest taking some Marvel Mystery Oil and coating the innards of your tank.
I see by your signature that you are in my general area. How close?

Fog the inside of the drained tank with WD-40. Put the whole tank inside a large plastic bag. And, just before you seal it, toss in a desicant bag.

Nice ride. White's Ferry? Or do you cross the river sooner. Or at all?
