doing my tins in silver with the honda decals from hahnda on the tank and side covers. i got mine in the quart containers since i have a sprayer setup in my garage/pit/hovel

That will look great with the silver....can't wait to see it. 

I'd like to get a compressor and a sprayer eventually, as the paint quality is not even in the same ballpark as the spraycan....

i'm running a 33 gallon, 150 psi upright compressor from sears. paint gun from lowes for 49.95

Rehashing an old build that is pretty much entirely new with the exception of the frame and a couple of other bits.
Went through the entire bike a second time around.
Rebuilt the engine replacing the primary/cam, etc...put new pistons/rings/jugs in and a 650 cam on top. Also had a valvejob done.
A local shop roll up a new oil tank and cap the ends.
Also had a friend paint the frame and tins the correct way. The HOK Rootbeer color turned out just as I imagined.

Love the way that looks, the color scheme is way better than that brilliant blue you had on there originally. Definitely a slick postwar feel to it!

Yeah, I dug that blue..it's just not right for this bike. It has a classier look to it now in my opinion. And it runs much, much better.

I've also found that blue bikes don't run very well ;) I like the last color set up as wll, nice looking bike!

Jreich,

it looks like I have a tank very similar (if not identical) to yours, and I am wondering two things: a) how did you handle the two holes for rear petcocks and b) how did you deal with getting the tank attached firmly to the frame...

Holy F**K I love your bike.  It makes me want to stop my CB500 cafe build and go that direction.  I see another bike in my future.

yeah dude, I think i've got it sorted, although I probably should have addressed the tank fitment issue before painting. For now, god bless industrial sized zip ties!

That is hilarious! Gotta love zip ties! You know, I bet if you used a punch and a sharp bit you could drill a couple clean holes and then touch up.
