cb 360 backfiring out of one cylinder?
« on: September 18, 2008, 05:35:03 PM »
Hey guys first off I would like to say what a great board you have here. I have just picked up a cb360 and long story short got it running from a barn find. It has 14000 miles on it. Its firing great on the left side cylinder (as sitting on bike) however the right cylinder cuts in and out. Mostly out. I think there might have been some junk in the tank. (Leason learned on my part) When I pull the plug for the misfiring cylinder its pretty rich and black were the other cylinders plug is great. I was wondering if you guys would start by swapping coils from one side to the other and see if the problem follows it? I'll take what ever wealth of knowledge you want to throw at me. Thanks for your time and help!
Scott
P.S they are new plugs.

I had one and i had the same issue when, the timing was off or the battery was low on charge.
One other thing to look at is the timing chain. That bike had issues with the timing chain. Big time...... The my friend had one with about 25g on it and it started to cut into the head. I have heard other people talk about the same thing happening to them. Not trying to freak you out, the one i had went well over 50g before i sold it and it was still running fine.
Good luck.
