"Blown" Motors
« on: September 19, 2008, 10:56:46 AM »
Thought I would share these pics of a destroyed big bore CB400F race motor. It belongs to a buddy of mine in the UK. This was his last race of the season and bang!!
The motor had done a couple of seasons I think.  It's an ex Isle of Man racer from the 70's.
It was using treated stock rods with the small end bored to 15mm......let go at 11500 rpm.
He does have another motor with all the right bits in it.......including a set of high performance rods.

He shut off when he felt bits of the motor hitting his right leg. No he didn't crash, kept it upright.

Glad to hear that your buddy didn't go down or take any shrapnel, that's some scary damage.
