So, I've got the wheels back on, new chain, got the electrical system worked out etc on the 1977 CB550F
Only a few more things to do, and a few questions on how to do them.
1. I replaced the clutch cable, and now when I squeeze the clutch lever and put into 1st gear the rear wheel is moving and the transmission puts out a slight grinding sound. I've tried the clutch adjustment as per the manual. Wondering if I can do the same as on a 500 listed in this thread described by Hondaman
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=36228.msg374047 I wonder what I'm doing wrong?
2. Bleeding the brake system. The cables are new and MC rebuilt with new parts. Bought a speedbleeder nipple for the caliper as well. New seal on the caliper for the piston etc. Pretty sure there is a load of air in there somewhere, but it doesn't want to come out. The lever feels spongy and not hard. The pads are up against the rotor. Should I be doing something different because the system was totally dry? Clymers recommends squirting fluid through the system. What do you think?
3. The engine sounds like an old airplane when it's running. I'm guessing this is the result of my inexperience in adjusting tappets?
