I can attest to how good it feels hearing from friends after a bad accident. Back in January 1983 I was in intensive care for 12 weeks. Any news for others was well received.

Mlinder, get well soon.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Hey Paul,

Let us know when/if you hear about him being transferred back down here. Maybe a bunch of us local folks can go visit him en masse.

you guys are all great. i talked to his mom a few hours ago and have a little more info. he broke his shoulder, his back in three places, tore all kinds of ligaments, broke several ribs, and damaged his trachea when his chin strap strangled him. he's getting an MRI tomorrow for what they think may be damage to the frontal lobe. apparently he almost died the first time they tried to take him off of the breathing tube, but they eventually tried again successfully. they've been tapering off his drugs, but he's still not becoming very lucid which is why they suspect brain trauma.

i know he's had at least one bad crash in the past... i hope he's a tough healer and will pull though fine. his mother told me she tells him everything when he's awake- lucid or not- and that she'll relay all of your kind words. i'll keep you guys updated to the hopefully good news as it happens.

I would like to suggest a bike repair fund contribution. I don't like giving flowers to my wife or anyone else. They wilt and die - then the flowers and the money spent are in the trash.

Assuming he would not carry comprehensive insurance on his old bike, its repair would be up to him. I would feel good about contributing to parts or even a Paypal fund for his use when he is back. The nice thing about cash is that he can use it where it needs to be used.Whether he uses it to repair the bike or not - $5, $10, 20, from enough of us would really add up and be more than flowers.

You guys that know him well, please give your input - I don't mean or want to offend him or his family. I don't have nor want to have any clue as to his financial situation, but I do know that I can find a way to survive if I sent him a small amount of repair funds and feel good afterwards. About 2 years ago, we had a member, Paul die of a heart attack at age 47 leaving a wife and an 8 year old son. We pulled together enough to purchase $2,650 in US Savings Bonds for Jacob.

Paul, do you know if he has a Paypal account? Anyone ever sold or purchased from him?

Gordon

It just makes me hurt, to hear all that Mark has suffered from this crash. :( I'll tell ya, I want to say something, but I just don't know what else to say Paul. I feel like I need to say something, but all I can get out is "Lord willing, Mark will pull through just fine." And I can't help but think any other way (that Mark will pull through just fine). Our Prayers are steadily coming for Mark and his family.

Ok, here is a start - It will cover some clutch and brake levers or perhaps replace a scratched dyno cover -

Get well Mark!

You have sent $25.00 USD to mlinder@submarine-fleet.com.

Since it is an email address, it comes up as a clickable link and will just open your email program.

That's his email address and paypal ID.  If you have a paypal account, you can go to www.paypal.com and enter your info to log into your account and send money to his paypal account using that ID.

i'll double check, but i tried his email address as a paypal account and it didn't work. if spikey got it to work it must be right though.

EDIT- ok, i just got it to work. i still might set up a different account so someone can keep track of how much donations have been sent. i think it would be nice, if for nothing else so we will know.

From what've read about his situation, I don't think he or his family are worried on the bike now. Flowers my die, but they do help: they give colour at time of distress, reminds you on how much beauty there is outside, and remind us about how short life is.

Unless somebody else knows the password of Mark's account, the money you so unselfeshly are donating will remain stuck in his account, or worst yet, will make Paypal richer if Mark is unable to recover -perish the thought-.

Hope he recovers soon and can read all our "get well soon" wishes by himself.

Damn, never nice to hear of a fellow rider going down. :(
Thoughts from New Zealand to him, we may be a long long way from him but we understand the suffering his family will be going through as he struggles to recover.

This place amazes me every day with the compassion I see on here, I am very sorry for his bad luck and want him to know my family and I are praying for him, and maybe we shouldn't jump the gun and wait for him to come back to reality and then focus on campaining a fundraiser to maximize the efficency of our brother hood to make sure the money doesn't get lost in translation from here to there. Needless to say even though flowers do die and thats why my wife gets the whole plant from me when I do give em, we can't fill his room with entire plants so some of the best cuttings should be selected out of a fund we can/should raise here and with the help of Paulages we can get someone to make sure they get there for him to wake up to. Prayers from the midwest.

I gotta say I am one tuff cat  ;) here meanin' I don't cry(wife says I have no feelings at times) and ya'll made me well up, compassion is my weakness, not many people show it any more.
