Favorite place to read Bike Magazines....
« on: September 21, 2008, 06:53:41 pm »
I like sitting in the shop..surrouded by bike memorabila and parts.. having a drink & reading a new mag..listening to vintage vinyl cranked up!!

..sometimes at home in a recliner.. too...

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

But... the best place I used to read them was on sunny days.. out in front of the shop.. sitting in my Cushman Truckster 3 wheeler.. with a mag on the steering wheel and a  cold drink on the dash.. man it just never got much better... ;D

I used to fly a lot so I actually have fond memories of stocking up on bike mags and reading them waiting at terminals in the airports, or even on the planes...yes I actually have GOOD memories of airports lol.

Now I like to just sit on the porcelain throne and read em cover to cover.

You really want to open up this discussion?? ;D

Back in the days, the boys and I would convene in the basement "den" (more like a corner next to the boiler cleared of junk) for a little poker (five card stud back then), beer and reefer.  (Me, I never touched the stuff, and certainly didn't inhale ;D)

Out would come the zines, everything from Spider-man, Car Craft, Playboy/Penthouse, and Cycleworld.  By morning's light the mags were trash, the beer was gone and the "den" was back to a junkroom with a few extra bodies strewn around.

Man, those were the days!

The only time I have to read 'em is when I'm taking the porcelain cruise. My roommates and I have a rack next to the sh!tter with a variety of girly, moto, and auto mags on their respective shelves. Its awesome except for the legs falling asleep bit. :D

I loved to read bike magazines while sipping a coffee.....

... at B&N, just to leave the magazine back in the shelf after I was done  ;D

Now I read, magazines and books, during my train commute. I get one extra hour for me every day. Use my bike for commuting during fair weather, and the train the rest of the time. One way or another, I arrive to the office with my spirit high!!!

I'll go one further.  I remodeled my basement bath for ME.  It's a man's bathroom.  Paper towels. Phone(so I can spend some serious time and not miss any calls).  All mens reading material(and none of "those" mags).  Mostly boat mags, Classic Boat in particular.  Catalogs consist of Northern Tool, AES & HRO (Ham radio catalogs) and the latest Micro Center flyer(computer).

Oh, and a TV.  7" LCD w/ DVD player built in.

I thought about a fridge, but there's no room.

In the can reading the cycle mags until the dog comes looking for me and the wife asks through the door 'what's going on in there?  are you all right?"  ;)  By then my butt is numb.
