A bike for the missus?
« on: September 20, 2008, 03:50:08 AM »
I've been looking around for a bike to do (with her help cos half the tools are hers) up for Jaffa
Here's a possible, check out the spares and new parts that come with it!

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

A 350 would be a real good choice for a first bike.
And those brand new mufflers are awsome, probably worth 4-500 by themselves.

But the overall price is a kind of high considering the mileage, a candidate for rebuild right away.
He also doesn't mention if that spare frame is titled. If not, it's worthless (in many states).

I'd offer him maybe $800, just my opinion.

if it was put away after a front end collision chances are the forks are tweaked, whether they look straight or not. I dont know what prices are where your at, but it seems pretty high for a bike needing a full restoration. a 350 runner would go for only a couple hundred more down here in nola. That aside 350s are really fun to work on and it looks like a really fun project.

Hmm, to me "spare straight 'K3' frame (incase the original is bent)" really says "warning, the frame is bent".

Caveat Emptor!

Would prefer a 350f but man they are hard to find in NZ, some beggar down south has a shed full me thinks!
A gb400 or CB500/550 also on my shopping list, Jaffa is eyeing up some of those strange 250cc bikes that came into the country cos here you can only ride up to 250 on a provisional/learners licence.
They look like choppers, little Harleys....at the end of the day if that's what she wants, that's what little Miss Jaffa will get I've found.
She found a 250 Honda Rebel on Trade-me which she is very keen on.
No worries I got another project coming up too ;D.
Oh yeah and she still wants to keep her pink Chinese scooter which is her daily work hack but wants something big enought o keep up with my 650. ;)

To me the new parts alone are worth the money, and the 350 is reliable as long as the oil and centrifugal filter are clean
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Sorry, in my previous post I also failed to realize you're a Wiw.
As I understand it, bikes go for a considerably higher value down there.
So what he's asking might be pretty reasonable at your location/

Like I said though, that new exhaust system is like gold all over the world.

That bike could be used for a parts bike to restore another bike. I would not go over 500 and that is being nice.
Good luck.
Yep, i have issues with this sort of stuff.
