Honda Varadaro
« on: September 21, 2008, 12:18:26 PM »
Any one ridden one of these bikes.  They are being released in Canada this fall ( now).  They are advertised as a Adventure Touring bike ?  1000cc V Twin. Looks like a large Trans Alp.  It seems that a similiar bike was marketed in Australia in 1999 but didn't take.  The new model is fuel injected.

I was looking at buying one before I got my Triumph Tiger. But the Honda dealer was so blase' about the sale and the fact that he didn't have a demo bike to test, I walked away and went back to the Triumph Dealer and put my deposit on a then (2003) new Tiger. Five years later she still scares me sh*tless and I'm really chuffed with her.
Since then I've heard various things about the Varadero which made me even more pleased I didn't get one: The new fuel injection only went part-way to solving the bikes legendary thirstyness, they're crap on dirt, reliability is only slightly above average.

I think that it the same motor as the VTR but detuned.  Apparently they are made in Spain.
