How nice it is..... Here.
« on: January 06, 2009, 04:02:47 PM »
As I am sitting here wasting away my last moments of work....

I just wanted everyone to know how nice it is to log on and have a wealth of information at my fingertips.

I have learned more about my newest addition (still in pieces) from you people here than any book could provide.

A large thanks and if any of you ever need anything just ask.

Sorry.... I'm in a sentimental mood. Today is (was) my great grandfather's birthday. He got me started riding some 14 years ago. Stories and pictures of his boardtrack racing helped a bunch too.

Long live the SOHC4 bikes!

I could not agree with your sentiment more....

This forum does really feel like a family

Happy birthday to your great grandfather above!

Would love to be equally inspired by any pictures you may want to share of his boardtracking days

Cheers
JD

This IS a great place to hang out, huh! Too bad it can't be a bar  ;)

Hard for me to envision learning to ride from a great grandfather. Wonderful thing. My great grandfather immigrated from Ireland in 1867. Dad has been gone 40 years as of 3 days ago. You're a very lucky guy.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

He died in 05 on his birthday at the ripe old age of 106.

My father has all of his pictures preserved for all time (or so he says) but somewhere around here is a picture of his bike. I'll look for it.

Before WWI he raced in America, went off to war (for italy), came back to the states afterward, raced again and boxed all at the same time. Drove a taxi until WWII, then went to war again (this time for USA, fought against all 6 of his sons), got back, moved back to italy....

He came back the day I was born. Been here ever since. (still is!!)  ;D

My bedtime stories growing up were endless.

Sounds like he was and interesting man to get know.
