The old oil lecel question!
« on: June 01, 2009, 02:31:33 PM »
Hey, sorry if this has been done but I couldn't find an answer for my model, is the oil checked on the side or center stand, or does it even matter? I am wondering if my oil light issue might be me not putting quite enough oil back in the bike after the change. On another note, bike runs like a champ, left early for work this morning and rode about 60 miles out of the way before I went in! Sweet!

500 should prolly be checked while on center stand. Assuming it's your 500 you are talking about.
No.

Yep, its the 500, and if checking on the stand is the correct way then I appear to have another issue, guess I need to look at the sensor.

Never had a 500, but on my 550K and 750K it never made a noticeable difference whether it was on the center or side stand.  You can test it yourself for your own bike, though.  Just measure the oil level with the bike on each stand and see if it makes any difference.
