my electrical problem
« on: October 12, 2008, 09:08:43 PM »
Here is what the CB750 is doing.

I can't get juice to the electric starter button unless I am hooked up to my van via jumper cables. And then, only occasionally.

In the morning I don't even have enough juice to kick the bike over, so that's when I get the cables out. After I ride somewhere, I can kick the bike over no problem.

I had a buddy check the system with the meter, and it read 13.5 volts the other day.

any ideas?

Didn't you already say in another thread that you let the battery get low on fluid?

Did you have the battery load tested?  Or, try a different known good battery in the bike?

I did say that. I guess even though the trickle charger shows I have good volts, I didn't load test it.

Maybe the battery is just shot.

Its not the volts but the amps you should look at, a battery will hold 12v untill its almost dead but wont hold the amperage needed to crank the engine, King is right the batt is most likley f***ed and its prob time to buy a new one.

Well, it's your choice.

You can overhaul the starter
Overhaul the starter solenoid.
Or, overhaul the starter control wiring/switches.

Or, have the battery load tested before doing those things.

What do you think is the best approach?
