Inceased final value fees, plus the 3% Paypal charges- Goodbye Ebay.
I figured out I was having to sell 2 or 3 items and all the proceeds went to cover the monthly fees.

Isn't it about time for someone to come up with a viable alternative?

There have been rumors for a while that google wants to get into the game. I think it would be good and with how much worse eBay has been getting I think google's chance is coming up.

Well, that completely sucks.
E-Bay has been trying to eliminate the small dealers
for a wile now, this is just one more step in that direction.
Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

Well they are already number one but they want a complete monopoly it seems. Either that or they are purposely trying to shoot their own feet off.

that's what really irks me the most, the monopoly even down to the payment which means they
can make money off the transaction even further.

Have a yard sale.... get all sociable and let the neighbors paw through your stuff......... go to the flea market....... give it all to Goodwill and take a write off.

I used to get bothered when feePay would announce a new way to screw sellers....... then decided that I had already sold anything that I had wanted to get rid of anyway.

So quit yer whinin'...... those fee hikes are paying dividends to investors and bonuses to a needy c.e.o......

What are ya...... a bunch o' commies?

The problem is, Ebay has a national audience who are able to provide -most of the imte anyway- a value for things too rare to set a price on.
I recently sold a pair of VGC BMW auxiliary gas tanks- how would I know how much to ask?  The cherry,no blems GB500 exhaust system- how much should I ask?   I'm thinking of selling a 1952 BMW R67/2- how do I figure out how much to ask?  If I ask that question at the Vintage BMW Owners Club, to a man they'll all say "$1200 to $1500, but I like you so I'll offer $1800."  Uh- thanks, but no thanks "friend".

Every bike I've sold got shipped out of state.  CL doesn't get that kind of attention.

Craigslist is NOT an alternative. Ebay is an auction and craig is a bunch of idiots that flag sales for no reason half the time. It may be free but you may get screwed or score or never even find what you need.

I didnt read the link, but had heard that it was maybe grandfathered for the older sellers..as in signed up years ago.

Noway, they are not getting me back to sell.. sure wish they would ask why sometimes..

Their relationship with their small seller that built them up to what they became, has been worsening for a lot of years now.

The fact that ebay owns paypal, is enough reason for me not to sign up...

I don't know how Google works, but your site doesn't come up when I search for "auctions", "online actions", "motorcycle auction", etc.

What sort of research have you done as far as advertising / getting the word out?

I need to kook around your site more,
but basically I'm taking a vacation from auctions of any kind.
I don't think buyers understand how much work I put into every item- including doing a good job of packing.  A lot of work for not much return unless everything is a big-ticket item.

Amount of time packing to get "packed in a manner like I would like to get it & it can arrive without damage under normal conditions".. was a big factor in my starting prices and eventual descision to stop selling.

Nobody even mentioned the new vehicle sales fees on eBay. I bought a bike this week for $510.  The eBay fee is now a flat-rate of $125 for vehicle sales, so the seller sold me a 1974 Honda XL250 that is all there and starts on the first kick every time, for $385, net.  That is just plain crazy.  It makes this forum the most likely place to sell.  I'll go inventory my extra parts and post them today.
