I'm having a problem that's kicking my rear end. The plugs on the outer two cylinders on my CB550 look great. The middle two look just like they did when they came outta the box. No change in color from new. They're not wet or anything either. We yanked the carbs off my buddy's bike (same as mine, 022A) We cursed the air box in a way that was appropriate, and no changes whatsoever in my plug readings. All this was after 4 miles or so. Really scared to ride it too far. No skip, no pop, no ping, no bang. Any clues?

Have you checked for spark on those 2 cylinders?  They are running from the same coil so you may want to check that.

Roger that. If it has no spark wouldn't the plugs be really wet? Going to check now... No spark, but it was revving good?!

Are the pipes warm?  They should be evenly warm/hot across the 4

Check the points and black power wire to the coils, coils seldom fail like that.

Also check the wires from the points to the coils. Mine had word throuugh and killed the middle cylinders.

I found my problem guys. Wire to coil was loose. I still don't get why the plugs were not really wet or anything, but oh well :-\
