Bagger Shootout in Cycle World
« on: September 15, 2008, 08:27:07 PM »
Glanced thru this on the stand a few days ago..

Was sort of surprised that out of 8 bikes tested, the top 2 spots did not go to any Japanese ones..

Interesting comments on a lot of the bikes, I think one was actually described as boring! and another one as gutless..

Interesting assortment including Triumph 3, H-D, & Guzzi.

Outcome doesn't surprise me.  When it comes to this cruisers (or touring cruisers in this case), Harley makes a great product and the latest Rocket III looks pretty good if you can stand the crushing weight.

But these are still crap touring bikes.... if a Goldwing has been in this comparison, it would have cleaned up - any test involving a Glide and a Wing has the Wing so far ahead it's not even a contest.  Why anyone would buy a big v-twin cruiser for heavy-duty touring when the Wing is around is beyond me.

I dont think it was a fulltime touring bike comparison.

I dont think it was a fulltime touring bike comparison.

Yes, this was a different category than bikes like the Wing are put into.  That was sorta my point - why buy one of these bagged cruisers when you can have a bike totally built to tour?  Other than style, I don't think these bikes do anything than a Wing can't do and a Wing does everything these bikes do but better.

Yeah, I've ridden a few hundred miles on a 2007 HD Road King, and I hated it.  My 1986 Gold Wing wins hands-down in every category, including beauty (IMO).

I dont think it was a fulltime touring bike comparison.

Cant do what a Wing cant do?

Well try running a Wing through a normal size chainlink fence gate when you are baked...
