Question for the electrical whizz-kids
« on: September 26, 2008, 09:22:48 PM »
G`day guys
Hoojing up my new reg and rec today and want to make sure i get the wires right.
The reg (bosch re57) has three prongs, do i hook them up like this
D+ - black wire
D- - green wire
DF - white wire

The rectifier (35 Amp 600 Volt 3 Phase Bridge Rectifier - 36MT60) has 5 prongs on it, is this the way to wire it?
+ - red
- - green
other three prongs - yellow

Hope i have expalined this clearly
Cheers

Hey Troppo,

I don't have enough personal knowledge to answer your question, but I found this thread had many of these questions answered. Chances are you already read it though if you got the right 2 phase rectifier. But if you didn't hope it helps...

EDIT: I think there is some good info on page 2 of that thread.

All the best!

Mike

P.S. thanks for answering my question on my thread  :)

Sorry I couldn't be better help. I'm sure someone smarter will chime in soon though.  Cool I was actually going to do the same swap this weekend to try to cut down on the charging issues. Want to swap in at least just the regulator cause I can't find any 3 phase rectifiers locally. That Ford regulator is huge compared to stock though.

well the one i used is actually smaller than the original one, being a bosch unit they are pretty common,  the rectifier i bought on ebay from a bloke in the states his ebay shop is MPS Electric, great service and rapid delivery

Those sound right to me although i may be tempted to fit an earth (ground) strap from the case to a green wire as well and make doubly sure that the ends of the main earth lead are clean and good contact

G'Day Trop. The regulator connections are OK. If you are using the original loom that connected to the old rectifier the +ve from the rectifier will connect to a red/white wire. The other end of the red/white wire goes to the starter solenoid - on the same terminal as the red wire. This is from the F1 wiring diagram. Pat

Thats one of the things thats confused me, i`m just hooking into the old loom i dont see the need for extra wiring, on the wiring diagram it should be a red/white as you mentioned but the wire on my loom is a pure red, could the aussie harness have been simplified for us "simple " aussies lol, or do i have a different year loom?

Don't know why there is no red/white wire. Maybe some one has changed it over the years. However, provided the red wire goes to the correct terminal on the starter solenoid then all will be good. Pat
