serial numbers
« on: September 28, 2008, 10:43:02 AM »
So, I was looking at my 550 yesterday as it was in pieces, and as I was prepping the crankcase for paint, I was looking at the serial number on the engine and noticed that it is different than the one on the steering tube of the frame. Is that normal? I sort of expected them to be the same. They're not different by much, I think the last 4 or 5 digits are different-

Yup, that's normal, but the fact that your numbers are close is a good indication that your engine is the original and hasn't been changed at some point.
