Hi all.
I'm a new member to this site from the Detroit area.
I'm 28 and an engineer for Chrysler. I love pretty much everything motorized, and my screename (unfortunately) seems to apply to anything that I'm interested in.
Anyway, I just picked up a 73 CB500 a week and a half ago. I've wanted one for awhile, thanks in part to a few of the guys in the office having them, and so far, I love it. Like any bike (or anything) that is 35 years old, it needs some TLC, but thanks to the information available on this site, I'm already starting to take care of some things.
Here is a picture of the bike. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the tank is from a later bike from what I've seen so far? It's got a rectangular panel that you open with a key to get to the gas cap.
The bike also came with a parts bike that is "complete" except for a tank. It's is most definitely a parts bike, specifically, a "pile of parts bike" but most everything seems to be there, along with a few extras. My plan is to get this one running well and then eventually either turn it or the parts bike into a cafe racer style bike.
