Got a new bike last week...
« on: September 28, 2008, 05:03:15 PM »
...but I have to pedal to get where I want to go  ;D

Haven't owned or rode a bicycle in years. I've been riding my dad's Peugot road bike lately and having the Tour of Missouri pass through a couple weeks ago got me psych'd to get a new bike. It's a Gary Fisher Marlin. I prefer hitting the trails over taking a bike on the road. Took it out this past weekend to the local trial, about 5 miles long. Talk about close encounters. There's some parts where the trees are wide enough to clear the handlebars. Had my falls but got back up and rode the course a couple more times to see how much faster I could go  :P

Any other cyclists here? Maybe you can teach me a thing or ten  ;D

lately i have come to hate bi-cyclists so i can't give you much advice except to not ride 3 abreast on winding,  hilly 2 lane backroads like the tourists do around here.
bicyclists pay for 'tours' of Vermont, see a cow and think trucks/cars/tracktor trailers don't drive 60mph+ on 40mph posted roads. can't count the # of times i have almost crashed bkz of idiots on bicycles.

sorry, as an aside, my brothers went from oregon to new hamshire again on bicycles this summer, BUT hey never ride side by side!
