Thank you for the comments.
I just received my used master cylinder in the mail.  It appears the spring that is depressed by the brake handle is stuck.  What is the best way to free this up?  I sprayed some WD-40 in the orfices and still no luck.  I planned to rebuild this MC since the one on my bike currently was not the Honda original.  Any comments would help.

Well a new spring comes with the kit so just take it apart.

Once the circlip is out a rod can be used where the banjo bolt goes to just push all the guts out.

Inspect the inner body of the MC really well with a bright light. Pitting in the bore is bad.
