shocks and reartire rub update
« on: September 17, 2005, 04:14:50 PM »
got my bike back together again. after trying to get more clearance and prevent tire rub.
raised the passenger seat pan from bottom of rails to top and moved bat box forward.
took it for a spin ,trying to hit bumps to maker it rub.
stop and have a look... dam it... it rubs on very rear of seat pan.
back to drawing board...
options:
get more clearance by going back to stock swingarm(3in shorter)
get longer shocks
get stifter springs
struts are not an option
...lightbulb went off in my head...why not limit how far the shock can compress?
took shocks apart and replace 1 in rubber on rod with a clutch spring...not enough limitation...install 2 clutch spring...perfect!!!!!!take it down the road... no rub...cool!!!!!

Wow, I'm sure that bike's a head-turner...

Where's the tail light on it?

CD811----> I would go with a taller shock , or run a limiter style setup like drag racers use on cars. Basically a cable system , that limits how much travel you have on the shock itself. Done right , loooks pretty sick. Very "Industrial " looking.....

Sweet bike man , I really need to get an / extend my swingarm....
Makes these bikes look so much better......
