Case screw replacement
« on: September 18, 2005, 06:05:11 PM »
Hi all

I recently bought a CB400F after selling my CB750F.  I really like the bike and its in pretty good original condition.... not a concours winner, but with some fettling will be a nice little bike to cruise around on.

My question:

can anybody help me out with the sizes of the engine case screws on a 400/4?  I want to replace the cheeeeesy phillips head screws with nice 404 Stainless screws (and yes I'll remember to  use copper kote to stop the electrolysis).  I dont want to have to take each screw out separately to measure it, unless I really have to.  also I am not confident if I take them out they will go in again then come out when I am ready to replace.

There used to be places that sold kits like this but I cant find them on google.

thanks in advance!

You might try ebay. There are several sellers that deal in replacement screws. That's where I found a kit for my 750.

Check out cycle-re-cycle.  I'm pretty sure they have the allen bolt sets for the 400, but for some reason I can't get the website to open right now.
