550 Worth??
« on: October 01, 2008, 11:45:57 AM »
Had a young fellow contact me out of the blue asking what his 550 might be worth, mom won't let him keep it "Too dangerous!!" apparently its pretty much stock, low mileage 4200m, has title, good seat(no rips), side covers, good tank, gauges look good etc etc.Was a good runner(weren't they all?) before it sat in storage, carbs gummed up. He's down in the US, Any thoughts

End of the riding season?  Not running but in decent cosmetic condition?

I'd price it around $800-$1000, low mileage might prop it up a few hundred more.

But that's purely conjecture  ;)

To me, if an owner doesn't bother to clean his bike, he probably doesn't bother to maintain it either.

carb rebuild (2-3 hours)  serious bath (2-3 hours) oil/brake fluid change and brake inspection ( an hour plus some money), new tires?

500.00 as is

700.00 if it starts

more if it runs well and is cleaned up a bit

just my pocket-book talking
