Ive recently gotten a 76 cb550 from my boss. Ive got it all torn down since it hasn't been ran in about 8 years and has just sat in her yard. The engine is in great shape so far, seeing as how Ive only gotten the rocker cover off but so far the valve train looks great. I do have a problem though, my cam chain adjuster. It looks stripped. Ive loosened the lock nut and turned it clockwise as per the manual but it doesn't thread in, and it just makes slapping sounds against the cam chain. No tension is removed from the chain, and there for I can not get the chain off the sprocket. The adjustment bolt looks like its galled where it goes into the block. I'm not sure what to do. Other than cutting the damn chain what would my options be for getting some tension off the chain?
