trip odometer shaft is bent
« on: October 02, 2008, 07:40:05 PM »
One casualty of my 40 mph bike drop was the mechanism on my trip odometer that allows me to reset to zero. The shaft is bent somewhat. The odometer works fine, but I just can't reset it now.

Is this something that can be fixed or am I looking at replacing the entire gauge?

By the way, I can live with the absence of a trip odometer.

I went and looked at one of the late model gauges I have apart....

Near as I can tell the Odometer shaft is two pieces inside the gauge.

Looks like the shaft is slip fitted on the axle for the odometer gears.

I tried pulling the two apart to no avail.

I think a person would have to disassemble the gauge to get them apart....

Buying an ebay one would be easier....

Sorry I didn't respond to your wreck thread...somehow I didn't see it. Glad your on the mend
