CH750 gauge face colors?
« on: April 17, 2013, 05:39:09 PM »
I'm curious as to what color gauges came on different bikes. I've had bikes with green gauges and bikes with blue gauges. My '72 had green face gauges and both my '71s have blue face gauges. They are faded and worn though and I'd like to make the gauges nice again. I see reproduction gauge faces recommended here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130823525738) and it says green/blue background, which looks different than my blue face gauges. Are these the only color that was made and they just faded to more of a blue? Or are these offered in both green and blue? I know the guy who makes them is a member here so maybe he can clarify. I don't see the email seller link that used to be on eBay.

These are my gauges... I do have another set which has both the correct K1 tach and speedometer, those are also blue face.

I sent Marcel an email, hopefully he makes the blue faces too. If not, green is better than what I have, but not what I prefer.

Does anyone know what determined whether the bike came with green or blue gauges? Did it depend on the color of the bike?

Dark green and light green. Can anyone that owned one of these new say they had a new one that was blue?? Don't think so.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

So where did all the K1 blue gauges come from? Was there another company making faces for them? Does the dark green fade to to blue? What is correct for my bike as it would have come from Honda?

I have opened and restored hundreds of K1-K5 gauges and no one of these had originally blue faces. Only discolored faces from green to blue. All these faces had still a small green color at the edge. That part of the faces did never see the sun as it's covered under the rim of the inner cover.
