I know something of 450's, essentially the same machine.
450's are amazingly tolerant of changes to filters, exhaust, and altitude, due to the principles of the vacuum carbs.
While the 500T's carbs are slightly different (they have slide springs and a jive accelerator pump-thingy), they're still basically the same carb.
As an example, back in The Day, I fitted a pair of 450's with Filtron filters (the precursors to Uni foam) and Hooker exhausts. Neither bike required any changes to the jets at all, and both had considerably improved performance.
Later, I moved with both bikes from Denver (over 5,000 feet altitude) to Indiana (about 600 feet), and again didn't have to touch anything.
So I would at least try it as-is for a little while and get a good plug reading first.
Also, FYI, while jets are changeable on those carbs, the needles are not adjustable.
